Last week, we were thrilled to welcome Suzy Diaz, the dynamic Executive Director of the Middle School of the Arts (MSOA) Foundation and a proud champion of Bak Middle School of the Arts!
This isn’t just any middle school—Bak MSOA is a free, public powerhouse of creativity, serving 1,360+ talented students in grades 6–8. To join this elite arts community? You’ve got to audition—because excellence starts at the door.
Their mission? “Empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and self-confidence to achieve their goals in the arts, academics, and life.”
And wow, do they deliver. Students dive into Communication Arts, Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts, and even Sports, all while working side-by-side with real-deal professionals—think Broadway veterans, national artists, and industry pros offering once-in-a-lifetime master classes, week-long residencies, and year-long mentorship.
How do they make this magic happen? Enter the MSOA Foundation’s Wish List Program—a fundraising superhero that covers over 50% of these pro collaborations, plus cutting-edge supplies, tech, and tools.
The results? Top-ranked in the county and state, Bak doesn’t just teach art—it transforms lives. Students grow emotionally, socially, and creatively… and yes, many have already starred on Broadway and TV!
Since 2012, the MSOA Foundation has poured over $2.5 million into fueling this artistic rocket ship.
