Congratulations welcome to Blayne Thompson our newest member, she and Keith Stacy will officially be inducted at a meeting in the next few weeks.
Our scheduled speaker was a no show, but the time was used to discuss ways to improve our club.
There will be a “Last One Standing “ event this year and Chris and Amanda will chair the event which will be scaled back from the full meals served and the price of the ticket will be determined as the details are confirmed.
We will once again sponsor the “Kids” portion of the Lantana Fishing Tournament.
We will fund a scholarship program for students who otherwise would not be able to purchase books at the Book Fair run at Barton Elementary and South Grade Elementary.
We will fund the “Josh the Otter” water safety program for schools that are interested in having this program.
New bicycles are being purchased for students with perfect attendance. We were asked to fund 2 of these bicycles for these fifth grade students.
The discussion was held at this meeting as to how we can improve our club.
Fundraising and attracting new members were the main topics.
Satellite clubs with different meeting times and different focus on specific areas of interest, such as evening or breakfast meetings, monthly rather than weekly meetings, meetings conducted in Spanish, and neighborhood clubs . All of these ideas are most important for Rotary, because without members there is no Rotary.
