July 30th - SPEAKER


Last week’s speaker was Lawrence Cassenti, General Manager of the soon-to-reopen Gulfstream Hotel. He shared that the historic Gulfstream Hotel, originally opened in 1925, has stood vacant for 22 years at the base of the Lake Worth Bridge near Bryant Park.


In the summer of 2019, Restoration St. Louis, led by Amrit and Amy Gill, began the process of securing city approvals to revitalize the hotel. Over the next five and a half years, they collaborated with the city to obtain the necessary permits. On December 5, 2023, they received the building permit for

Phase 1, with final approval granted in August 2024.


As part of the permit process, updates to the plans were approved, including the addition of a rooftop pool and an expansion of the hotel. Renovation work is now underway, with the historic Gulfstream Hotel expected to reopen by the end of 2025.


The project includes restoring the historic hotel with 90 rooms and a restaurant/bar, as well as developing adjacent vacant properties to the west. The new development will feature an additional 50 rooms, 85 apartments, a 273-space parking garage, meeting and ballroom spaces, a spa/salon, a gym, and a rooftop restaurant and pool.


Mr. Gill, the CEO of Restoration St. Louis, shared the company’s mission: “We aim to strengthen and enhance the communities we serve by redeveloping neglected neighborhoods and properties into vibrant places to live, work, and play.” This vision drives their commitment to the Gulfstream Project.
