In our local school support initiative, the principals of

Lake Worth Middle School, Caelethia Taylor,

and

Lake Worth High School, Elena Villani,

will be joining our meeting this week to receive $1,000 grants for projects of their choice. Each elementary school in the area will also receive the same grant. The principals will return at a later date to share how the funds were used.

Last Chance to accept Jim Gavrilos’ $108 donation challenge for the Forgotten Soldiers event on November 6. If you want to contribute to this great cause, please let the treasurer know.

Last week our speaker was Jake Rosner, VP of the Aquarium Department of the Cox Science & Aquarium Center responsible for overseeing the implementation of the new aquarium in the upcoming 135-million-dollar expansion project.

Serving Palm Beach County since 1961, the Cox Science Center revolves around a simple premise: Science is Exciting! Our mission is to “Open Every Mind to Science” and we are delivering on this promise by providing schools, and visitors an entirely new set of science programming and tech ventures based on computer coding, robotics, and leading-edge educational programs.

In the upcoming years, the aquarium will be completely reimagined, expanding from its current 12,000 gallons to 150,000 gallons and featuring some of Florida’s most compelling species! An active SCUBA instructor with over 3,500 dives, Jake will also be responsible for ensuring safe diving practices at the Science Center.

I haven’t gotten anything done today. I’ve been in the Produce Department trying to open this stupid plastic bag.
