The “Stuff the Bus” project, which collects and distributes school supplies, is led by our own Jim Gavrilos, President/CEO of The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County.

Jim Sugarman and Harry Wolin represented The Rotary Club of Lake Worth Beach at the event and presented $422 worth of school supplies to fill the bus. The event was a tremendous success and thanks in part to the generous financial support from our club.

Announcements

Natalie Stolbach announced that the Lantana & Lake Worth Beach Chamber is hosting an upcoming leadership program with a few spots still available for those interested.

Attendees:

Scholarship recipient, Bianka Gonzalez Garcia, attended our meeting, accompanied by her sister, Abilenny Gonzalez Garcia. Bianka is headed to college to study homeland security, with aspirations of working at an airport. We may soon see a scholarship application from Abilenny as well.

We were also joined by Tony Lafaso from the West Palm Beach Club, who is organizing a golf tournament fundraiser. For more details, see flyer above.

August 13 - SPEAKER

Today, we welcomed speakers from Boys Town South Florida: Danielle Mesquita, accompanied by board members Antonella Pena and Joann Davis.

Boys Town, founded over 100 years ago by Father Flanagan, initially aimed to support adults facing homelessness and other challenges. However, Father Flanagan soon realized the importance of early intervention with children and families to prevent deeper issues. In South Florida alone, Boys Town has impacted over 4,150 children through its focus on prevention and intervention. Their in-home family services emphasize setting clear expectations for children, tracking their progress, and fostering accountability.

The organization offers a range of programs, including Parental Education, Family and Communication Services, Crisis Services, and Psychological Treatment Services.

They also provide a teen-focused resource, Your Life Your Voice, a safe online platform offering tips, tools, and support for teens facing challenges.
