President Chris announced that the tree giveaway, supported by Rotary Club of Lake Worth Beach, successfully distributed over 100 trees in a remarkably short time. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered and contributed to its success.

July 23th - SPEAKER


Last week, our speaker was Representative Debra Tendrich from Florida House District 89. She provided an insightful overview of how the Florida Legislature operates and the process of voting on bills. Rep. Tendrich explained that the Florida Legislature convenes for a 60-day regular session annually, starting on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in March in odd-numbered years, and on the second Tuesday after the first Monday in January in even-numbered years.


Members of the Florida House of Representatives are elected to two-year terms in even-numbered years. The Florida Constitution grants the Legislature the authority to create and amend state laws, subject to the governor’s veto power. To enact legislation, bills are drafted by nonpartisan, professional staff, undergo committee review, and require three readings on the floor of each chamber with appropriate voting majorities. A bill becomes law if signed by the governor or, if vetoed, through a two-thirds majority override in both legislative chambers.


Rep. Tendrich emphasized that her office is available to assist constituents with questions or issues related to state or local government, offering support to the fullest extent possible.
