The Card 50/50 drawing fund has reached $451 with 36 cards left in the deck. You can’t win if you’re not at the meeting, so come on out.We need people to start bringing in bottles of wine and lotto tix for the Glitter & Glow. We are also looking for some sponsors.   We had two guests at our meeting from the West Palm Beach Rotary Club, President Robert Damante and President-Elect Jack Lainsy.   The speaker this week was Florida House Representative David Silvers. He was elected in 2016  and serves our local community from Boca Raton to West Palm Beach and west to Belle Glade. He is term-limited and will run for the State Senate next term.   In 2018-20 he was the ranking member of the Local Veterans Affairs Committee, Commerce Committee, which includes the Gaming Control Committee, Ways & Means (12/18 to 11/20), and Justice Appropriations (8/19 to 11/20).   He is very active with animal rights, domestic violence issues, and elder abuse especially when it comes to stopping fraudulent transactions with seniors being duped into scams. The issue of Baker Act kids who are out of control at school and Senior Mental Health coverage on insurance was discussed. It seems the insurance companies in the Network say they are covering them but they don’t when it comes time to care for them. He had introduced a bill on Human Trafficking recently which died in Congress.

During Halloween, families spend an average of $108 on candy & costumes. If we can spend that much on Halloween, then we should be able to spend that much for our veterans. He will put up the first $108 and invited other Rotarians to match his donation for this great organization.
